3x + y = -2 so y = -3x - 2
and
x - 2y = 4

substitute y = -3x - 2 into x - 2y = 4
x - 2y = 4
x - 2(-3x - 2) = 4
x + 6x + 4 = 4
7x = 0
x = 0

y = -3(0) - 2
y = -2

solution (0 , -2)

Answer
