The War Powers Resolution of 1973 may be U.S. federal law providing that the President will send U.S. defense force into action abroad solely by authorization of Congress or if u.s. is already under fire or serious threat. The War Powers Resolution needs that the president apprize Congress inside forty-eight hours of committing defense force to action forbids defense forces from remaining for over sixty days while not an authorization of the employment of force or a declaration of war.
