2 tonnes =2000kg
2000kg÷ 96=21.05 (2dp)
therefore it would take around 21 years for the elephant to increase his mass 2 tonnes

Answer:

20 years.

Explanation:

Let x represent number of years.

We have been given that a baby elephant has a mass of 105 kg, the baby elephant increases in mass by 95 kg per year.

The mass of baby after x years would be
95x.

The total mass of baby after x years would be
95x+105.

We know 1 metric tom equals 1000 kg, so 2 metric ton equals 2000 kg.

Now ,we will equate total mass of elephant by 2000 and solve for x as:

95x+105=2,000

95x+105-105=2,000-105

95x=1895

(95x)/(95)=(1895)/(95)

x=19.94736

x\approx 20

Therefore, it will take 20 years for the baby elephant's mass to increase 2 tonnes.
