slope-intercept form - y = mx+b
(m is slope)
because slope is given already (2) we can substitute that for m
so y = 2x + b
to solve for b, use the given point (3,-2) using the x and y value in the point given (x=3 y= -2) in the equation so far
(-2 = 2(3) + b)
2*3 is 6. to get b all by itself remove 6 from both sides
(-2-6 = 6-6 + b)
-2-6 = -8
so -8=b
that means y = 2x -8
