What is the term for the region of a mitochondrion that is enclosed by the inner membrane?

Mitochondria have an outer and inner membrane. This inner membrane folds into cristae that contains the electron transport systems and oxidative phosphorylation, where the ATP synthesis occurs. It also encloses the region referred to as the matrix.
