The recipe needs 11/2 cups of water which is equivalent to 5.5 cups of water. The question is asking how much water is need for half of the recipe.
We must divide 5.5 by 2
5.5/2 = 2.75
The answer is 2.8 cups of water is need for half of the recipe.
