A constitutional scholar has written that the most important contribution of the nixon case is "in its reaffirmation that even the highest officer of government is not beyond the reach of the law and the courts." explain in your own words what this means and how this conclusion relates to the idea of a democratic government.

The Nixon case is a perfect demonstration of separation of powers which is a key tenet in democracy. Although Nixon argued that he enjoyed executive privilege and that the judiciary lacked power to compel him in the exercise of his discretion, the court upheld a decision compelling him to disclose material for evidence. Also, his conduct was investigated by Congress. This shows the separation of powers between the Judiciary, Executive and the Legislature.
