Sides of the bigger square are 40 feet long.

Explanation:

If we go by the picture attached plot of land is in the square shape.The shaded part is covered with gravel.

Area of the shaded part = 200 square ft.

Side of the bigger square is x ft.

Area of the remaining part of the bigger square = 1400 square feet

So the equation will be

Area of the plot covered with grass = Area of bigger square - Area of the smaller square

1400 = x² - 200

x² = 1400 + 200 = 1600

x = √1600 = 40 ft.
