For this case we can make the following rule of three:
$ 48 ---------> 100%
x ------------> 20%
Clearing x we have:
x = (20/100) * (48)
x = 9.6 $
Then, the price you paid for the watch is:
48 - 9.6 = 38.4 $
Answer:
Christopher did pay 38.4 $ with the discount
