Sulfur ion has 16 protons and 18 electrons.
Protons have a charge of +1electrons have a charge of -1
(16 protons * +1 charge) + (18 electrons * -1 charge) = +16 - 18 = -2
The net charge is -2.
There you go.

Given:
Sulfur ion has 16 protons and 18 electrons.

Protons have a charge of +1
electrons have a charge of -1

(16 protons * +1 charge) + (18 electrons * -1 charge) = +16 - 18 = -2

The net charge is -2.
