Given:

Fare of a taxi journey is given by
f=cm, c= cost per kilometre, m= number of kilometres travelled.

c=40p, m=8km.

To find:

The fare charged.

Solution:

Fare of a taxi journey is given by

f=cm ...(i)

where,

c= cost per kilometre

m= number of kilometres travelled.

Putting c=40 and m=8 in (i), we get

f=(40)(8)

f=320

Therefore, the fare of a taxi journey is 320 p.
