1. Bold: “ though he loves banana splits”.
Underline: “ Tyler doesn’t like bananas”.

2. Bold: “when it was time to go bed”.
Underline: “My brother continued playing video games”.

3. Bold: “ Because I forgot for the spelling bee”.
Underline: “ I was eliminated in the first round”.

4. Bold: “unless she hasn’t finished reading it”.
Underline: “I’m going to borrow the book from Catherine”.

Explanation: It’s almost like cause and effect, ex: Shawn went bed earlier, because he was tired from basketball practice, the cause or dependent clause is “because he was tired from basketball practice”. The independent clauses start with a name telling you how it caused them to do something which is the cause, “Shawn went to bed earlier”. Hope this actually helps :)
