Rufus Weylin- A slave owner from Maryland who was a man of harsh behavior and had no respect for races. Rufus was brought up in an environment where people treated black community as inferior and he was told to act like a master to them. As in that era all the people in the region behaved all same as superior to the black community.

Step-by-step explanation:

Rufus was brought up not very well, as he lacked respect for races.But, when ever he tried to improve himself he was forced by the society to show hatred and his merciless shades for the black community.

Alice was his slave who faced Rufus's brutality. As he tortured her both physically and mentally.
