x^2+4x-2=2x+1

x^2+4x-2x-2-1=0

x^2+2x-3=0

factor out the trinomial

(x+3)(x-1)=0

zero property

x+3=0, x-1=0

x=0-3=-3

x=0+1=1

y=2(-3)+1=-6+1=-5

y=2(1)+1=2+1=3
