RICE for treating physical injuries:
“RICE – Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation”
After an injury (knee or ankle sprain) the pain and swelling can be relieved and wound can be made flexible and healed.
Rest: Need to take rest and protect the injured area.
Ice: By applying cold ice pack will reduce pain and swelling.
Compression: Need to wrap the injured area with an elastic bandage will compress the wound and reduce swelling.
Elevation: Need to place the injured area at a height (above the heart level) which helps in minimizing the swelling.
