In at least one hundred words, compare and contrast Rukmani’s voice in Nectar in a Sieve with Gandhi’s voice in "Gandhi Defends His Beliefs." Consider how their points of view are similar, as well as how they differ.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Rukmani is a woman in India, who happened to be the first and chief consort of lord khrishna, the king of Dwaraka. She faced many difficulties to raise her family. Ghandi in the other hand, was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonist nationalist and political ethicist, whose dream was to conquer the independence of his country and in doing so he always advocated for peaceful means . Rukmani has this idea of making a living in a peaceful way too. Rukmani and Ghandi are synonymous when it comes to doing thing in a peaceful way. Rukmani never wished to ask people for help, even when her friend Kenny -- a doctor, who helped her delivered her children ordered her to do so, because poor people needed to seek for help in time of need.

Ghandi started his fight for independence and in his speech he said that he deliberately wanted to do what he did and he didn't regret anything of what he has done. In this aspect Ghandi was a little bit different from Rukmani because he saw the reality of his country and he thought about drawing the attention of the media and powerful people that can help in achieving his goal. Rukmani was more committed and dedicated to making her family survive by all means. She encountered many challenges and difficulties but she didn't give up. Even when her daughter Ira became pregnant through prostitute or when the monsoon destroyed the harvest, she stood firm still. Ghandi also faced many terrible situations and in his speech he stated that they were worthwhile if he could help his cause. In this aspect both characters are also similar.
