What type of heat transfer is observed within the mantle? Why is this heat transfer important for the layers of the earth?

earths mantel hot rock rises and slightly cooler rock sinks

if the earth wasnt as hot as it is inside we could not live here the ground would be too cold for us to survive. this is why one reason why we can live on earth but not other planets
