I assume this is a system of equations?

Simplify the second equation to:
X=-5y+40

Then substitute and solve
2(-5y+40) - 4y =10
-10y+80 - 4y =10
-14y+80=10
-14y=-70
Y=5

Then substitute again
X+5(5)=40
X+25=40
X=15

And there’s your answer. Hope that helped!
