The possible pairs of integer values of x and y are (24 ,1), (12,2), ,(8,3), and (6,4) .

Explanation:

The length of the rectangle = x cm

The breadth of the rectangle = y cm

Area = 24 sq cm

Now,as x and y are both sides of the rectangle so, x and y ARE STRICTLY POSITIVE.

Also, AREA OF RECTANGLE = LENGTH X BREADTH

⇒ x y = 24 , x >y

So, all possible values of (x,y) = (24 ,1), (12,2), ,(8,3), and (6,4)

Hence, for area to be 24 sq units there are 4 possible dimensional sets.
