To graph this equation, first plot a point at (0, -8). This is because the y-intercept is -8, meaning that the line crosses the y-axis when y=-8.

Then, plot the next point using the slope. The slope is equal to the rise/run of the line, or the number of units the line travels upwards / the number of units the line travels to the right. Because the slope is 1/2, we know that for every 2 units a point travels to the right, it goes up by 1 unit.
