a)

The given quantities are:

d = 10.0 m is the vertical distance covered by the ball

t=0.88 s is the time it takes for the ball to reach the ground

v_0 = 0 is the initial velocity of the ball

a=g is the acceleration of gravity

v is the final velocity of the ball

b)
25.82 m/s^2

In order to find the acceleration of gravity, we use the following equation:

d=v_0 t + (1)/(2)at^2

Where

v_0 =0

t = 0.88 s

d = 10.0 m

Solving for a,

a=(2d)/(t)=(2(10.0))/(0.88^2)=25.82 m/s^2

c) Jupiter

The value which is closer to the value calculated is the value for Jupiter, which is 25.95, so the planet must be Jupiter.

d) 22.7 m/s

We can find the final velocity of the ball before striking the ground by using the equation

v_f^2 = v_0^2 +2ad

where

v_0 =0

a=25.82 m/s^2

d = 10.0 m

Solving for v,

v=√(v_0^2+2ad)=√(0+2(25.82)(10.0))=22.7 m/s
