This temple dedicated to the Roman gods exemplifies ancient Roman architectural genius. It features a 19 foot thick rotunda topped by a solid dome. The inside of the dome was once painted blue to represent the heavens. It has a 30-ft wide oculus to allow in light and air. It has inspired more works of architecture than any other monument in Greco-Roman history.
