Answer: y = 1/5 x - 4

Step-by-step explanation: Recall the equation of the line in the form : y = mx + c , where m is the slope and c is the y - intercept. Comparing this with the equation , it means m = 1/5. Note : for two lines to be parallel, then they must have the same slope, i.e the slope of the other line is also 1/5.

To find the equation of the other line , use the formula;

y - y1 = m ( x - x1) , from the question , x1 = 5 and y1 = -3, substituting, we have

y - ( -3) = 1/5 ( x -5 )

y + 3 = 1/5x - 1

y = 1/5x -1-3

y = 1/5x - 4
