How does the author develop the plot in “How a Cat Played Robinson Crusoe”? The cat has ongoing conflicts with rats which continue until the cat kills the last rat. In each chapter, the cat faces a conflict which is resolved by the end of the chapter. In each chapter, the seasons change and each conflict the cat faces is related to a season.

The cat endures one conflict after another and all conflicts are resolved when the children return.
