Subtract 2x on both sides 2y=-2x+38

Then Multiply 2(y=x+3) which equals 2y=2x+6

Solve by Elimination

2y=-2x+38

2y=2x+6

add the y's and since the x's are different those cancel out, then add 38 and 6.

then you do the equation 4y=44

divide both by 4

y=11

then you do 11=x+3

subtract 3 on both sides

x=8

and there you go
