Answer:

Animal Farm began as a utopia but turned into a dystopia. This statement is true.

Step-by-step explanation:

This story is a dystopia as it depicts a world where the characters wish to have a utopian society but their predicament results in a world that is worse than the world they changed. Since the beginning of the text, it is evident that the animals' attempt of having a new society based on the principles set by Old Major will fail.

This is because the author labelled their efforts as a revolution. This already defined the animals' attempts to be futile. A dystopia is where the creator builds a world which is a total nightmare. A utopia is just the opposite.

In this novel, Napoleon builds a world that is not worse but is pretty close for the animals. The newly built world is where the animals (except for pigs) have no power. It’s an imaginative world where the others would do exactly in accord of the pigs say and would be eliminated if they didn’t.

The pigs used the other animals for their own gain which is not something different from what humans did. In the end, it is worse as the animals who had hope have their hope completely staked. So this novel is a dystopia as Orwell showcases a really unpleasant world .
