1) Distribute 2 to 2x and -1:

4x-2=-2(1+3x)

2) Distribute -2 to 1 and 3x:

4x-2=-2-6x

3) Add 2 to both sides:

4x=-6x

4) Add 6x to both sides:

10x=0

5) Divide both sides by 10:

x=0
