A unit-based infection control task force was developed in an attempt to reduce catheter-acquired infections. The group consists of 10 team members. During the past three meetings, one person dominated the meeting and did not allow other members ample time to speak. The best way to address the team dysfunction is to:

(a)- have group members issue a written warning to the dominant member.
(b)- plan a meeting where the dominant person cannot attend.
(c)- pick a team leader who is not the dominant member.
(d)- have group members confront the dominant member to promote the needed team work.

Answer:

Have group members confront dominants member to promote the needed teamwork

Explanation:

In the workplace, whether it is in any organization or any company, the group of people works together as a family member. Different personalities work together in a company forcefully or intentionally. Many of the team leaders are based with the personality that manages their teamwork as well as their team members but some of the manager dominants on their team members that have negative points. When some of the leaders dominate in conversation in meeting then it gets stifled to the there members when the leader does not give chance others to speak. Many time it happened unintentionally due to lack of awareness and the team leader get excited and extroverted to participate in the activity.

  • A team leader should work on their self-awareness
  • Engage another person to communicate
  • Creates boundaries
  • Politely cut them off and redirect them.
