This means that for every 3$ saved, Sam spents 5$.

Then, we only need to do a simply rule of 3, to stablish the amount spended.

If:

120 ---------> 3

X ------------> 5

Solving for X, we have:

120/X = 3/5

X = 120 * 5 / 3

X = 600 / 3

X = 200$

If you want to verify that this calculation is correct, then do the ratio between 120 and 200. If the ratio is 3:5 is correct. Here's the demostration:
