Answer:

Kelly bought 9 shirts.

Solution:

As given she spent total
\$225 on jeans and shirt

Let us assume that she bought x number of jeans and y number of shirts

She bought total 14 items,

Hence
x+y = 14

x=(14-y) ………… (i)

Each jens costs
\$18, So x number of jeans will cost total
\$18x

Each shirt costs
\$15, so y number of shirts will cost total
\$15y

So we can say ,

18x +15y = 225 ………… (ii)

Now substituting value of (i) in (ii) we get,

18*(14-y) +15y = 225

252 -18y +15y = 225

-3y = 225 -252

-3y=-27

y = 9

So,
x = (14-9) = 5

She bought 9 shirts.
