the angles at vertex C are clearly vertical angles and thus equal, however, the triangles made would be similar only if AB || ED, if that were true then the angles in the triangles will also be congruent, however we do not have information stating that AB and ED are indeed parallel, a counterexample will be, Check the picture below.
