Ok so, Adam had 91 dollars. If he spent 21 dollars on new books, what is the ratio of money he still has, to money he's spent. The answer is 10:3, but I need a show your work example from somebody! Please help!

y ---> the money Adam spent

r ---> the ratio of money he still has, to money he's spent.


r=(x)/(y)

we know that

The money Adam still has is the same as the money he originally had minus the money he spent.

so


x=\$91-\$21=\$70

we have


y=\$21

Find the ratio


r=(70)/(21)

Simplify

Divide by 7 both numerator and denominator


r=(10)/(3)
