The height of tower A is 854 feet more than Tower B. The two towers have a combined height of 1,662 feet. What are the heights of each tower

Explanation:

Since we don't know the height of tower B, let's call that x.

So, the height of tower A is x+854.

and the equation for both towers together is x+x+854=1662

or 2x+854=1662

Now subtract 854 from both sides then divide by 2 to get x=404.

So, Tower B is 404 feet tall and Tower A (404+854) is 1258 feet tall.
