Answer: $25,500

Explanation:

15/100 = 4500/x , we use this proportion to find out how much the entore book deal was. When you multiply 4500 x 100 and divide by 15, it gives you an answer of 30,000. 30,000 is the value of the book deal. The agent gets 15% but the entire deal would be worth 100%. We subtract 15% from 100% to get 85%. 85% is what the author will receive. 85% of 30,000 is $25,500. We find the answer by multiplying 30,000 by 0.15. 0.15 is the decimal equivalent of 15.
