When you are solving for m you want to seclude m on one side,

So start by subtracting 7 on both sides because you want to use inverse operations so since it’s positive use negative

2m = 2

Now since you use inverse operations you want the m by itself to since 2m is bound through multiplication use division so divide 2 on both sides and you’re left with

m = 1

You can check by filling m back into the equation

2(1) + 7 = 9

2 + 7 = 9

9 = 9

So it’s true
