The goal of this question is to have you isolate B

Start by subtracting ax to move it to the other side
(-ax)ax+by=c(-ax)
By=c-ax

Then to get rid of the y, you divide the entire equation by y
By=c-ax
————-
Y

B=c-ax
——-
Y

Hope this helps!

ax+by=c

move ac to the other side

sign changes from +ax to -ax

ax-ax+by=c-ax

by=c-ax

divide both sides by y

by/y=c/y-ax/y

Cross out y and y then becomes 1*1*b=b

Answer"

b=c/y-ax/y
