Explanation:

For a negative exponent you always flip the number so instead of
5^(-1) it would be
(1)/(5^(1) ) and 5 to the first power is 5

Now for
5^(0) any exponent with a zero it always equals 1

So
(1)/(5) * 1 = (1)/(5)
