a)

well, we know the final score is just the sum of "t" and "i", so hmmm we can just call the final score say "f", thus f = t + i.

b)

student A

f = 30 + 40 => f = 70.

student B

f = 40 + 20 => f = 60.

student C

f = 30 + 50 => f = 80.

c)

the highest score above is from student C or 80, in order to have a higher score than that you would need a final score of 81. You already earned 35 points for "t", so from "i" you'd need 81 - 35 = 46, so if you earn for interpretation 46 points, your final score will be f = 35 + 46 => f = 81.
