I see why this can be tough. The trick here is to realize that a^2 is being cubed, making the problem look more like
2*(3^3)*(a^(2*3) )

Something I like to do in situations like these is realize that the powers have their own formulas (in this case it's (2)3). By the parentheses rule, we know that (2)3 is just 2*3, which is 6. So a is to the power of 6.

When put into that form, we can see what we need to do, which is cube 3, and write a to the 2*3 power, which is 6.

Therefore, 2*9*a^6 is 18a^6
