4. Imagine you are hiking with friends in Northern Wisconsin in the Chequamegon National Forest.

You have lost your trail, but you were smart enough to bring a map with you. If you head north,
the colors get darker green and the contour lines get closer together. If you head south, the
colors get lighter and the contour lines slowly get farther apart. To the east is a large lake. To the
west, you can see a fast moving river with rapids. Which direction would you choose to go?

Explanation: If you go to the north, the map is telling you with a darker color that the forest is denser up there. Also, the contour lines tell you that it is a mountain because the lines are closer. East and west are not an option because there is water. So, the right answer is south, because the map indicates you with a lighter color that there is less vegetation and also the space between the lines tells you that it is flat or that at least you won't find any mountain.
