Because
You need to try and get x by it self so subtract -2 by 8 and you get -10 then do 2 divided by -10 and you get -5

so you need to get x by itself, so you will first subtract(8-8) and (-2 - 8). This will cancel out 8 and give you, 2x=-10. Then you will divide(2x÷2) and (-10÷2). This will cancel out the 2 and leave you with x=(-5)
