Plz help I've been trying to figure it out for the past hour plz.

You are traveling by bus. After 4.5 hours, the bus has traveled 234 miles. Use the formula d = rt where d is distance, r is rate, and t is time to find the average rate of speed(r) of the bus.

Answer:

first you want to rearagnge the distince formula to find what the question is asking for. It asks for your rate. So if your trying to find rate (r) you want to have rate (r) alone on one side of the equals sign because the equation should equal rate. In d = rt, rate is on the side with time, and d is alone. We want to get rate on its own. If rate is multiplied by time, we divide rate by time to get R on its own. d=rt ----> d/t = rt/t. On the right side of the equation, the time in the numerator and the time in the denominator cancel eachother out, so you are left with d/t = r. Now that we have rate (r) on its own on one side of the equation we can plug in the given information to solve for rate. The traveled distance (d) is given (324 miles) and the time (t) is given (4.5 hours). So d = 324 miles, and t = 4.5 hours Now plug that in to your new equation

(d/t =r).

Ok so 324 miles (d) / 4.5 hours (t) = the rate (r)

Since the units are miles/hours, your rate will be in units of miles per hour.

When plugging in the numbers to the equation we can take out the units, so just plug in the numbers.

plug in 324/4.5 into your calculator to find r

Remember you must always include the units of your answer. So make sure to include Miles per hour in your answer!

So your calculator answer should be 72, which means thats your rate. But again include your units in the answer. The units for your rate as explained above is Miles per hour. So your answer is Rate = 72 Miles per hour.

The only reason I mention include your units multiple times is because im a high school student who has had several teachers mark me down for not including units. To avoid getting your answer wrong, and avoid getting a lecture by your teacher, for the love of goodness, just include your units!

Answer:

52 miles per hour

Explanation:

d=234 miles

t=4.5 hours

r= ?

so

234=r4.5

and 234/4.5= 52
