-2(7-y)+4=-4

Multiply the bracket by -2

(-2)(7)(-2)(-y)+4=-4

-14+2y+4=-4

Combine like terms:

-14+4+2y=-4

-10+2y=-4

Move -10 to the other side. Sign changes from -10 to +10.

-10+10+2y=-4+10

2y=6

Divide by 2 for both sides.

2y/2=6/2

Cross out 2 and 2, divide by 2 and then becomes: 1*1*y=y

y=3

Answer : y=3
