Answer:

Total number of tickets sold by children = 1000

You bought a $1 ticket for yourself and one for your mother.

(a)What is the probability that you will win?

As you have 1 ticket so you have 1 in 1000 chances of winning.

P( you winning ) =
(1)/(1000) = 0.001

(b) What is the probability that your mother will win?

As the mother also has 1 ticket, she also have a 1 in 1000 chances to win.

P( mother winning ) =
(1)/(1000) = 0.001

(c) What is the probability that you or your mother will win?

Now you have a total of 2 chances to win.

P( you or mother ) =
(2)/(1000) = 0.002
