Answer:

We know that 48 + x = 90 degrees since we know PQS is a right triangle.

Therefor, if we subtract 48 from both sides we will get x.

90 - 48 = 42

Angle x is 42.

These angles are complimentary. What this means is that the sum is equal to 90 degrees. With this knowledge you can make a formula like so...

48 + x = 90

Solve for x by subtracting 48 to both sides

48 - 48 + x = 90 - 48

x = 42
