(2x+5)=12

(2x+3y)=8

Eliminate x first to find y by subtracting.

2x-2x+5y-3y= 12-8

2y= 4

Divide by 2 for 2y and 4

2y/2=4/2

y= 2

Find x by using the substitution method.

2x+5y= 12 (y= 2)

2x+5(2)= 12

2x+10=12

Move +10 to the other side. Sign changes from +10 to -10.

2x+10-10= 12-10

2x= 2

Divide by 2 for 2x and 2

2x/2= 2/2

x= 1

Answer: (1,2)
