PLEASE DON'T JUST WRITE AN ANSWER!!! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION SO I CAN UNDERSTAND IT MYSELF :)) <3

I've gotten this problem wrong three times and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong :(

Castel and Gabriella are selling pies for a school fundraiser. Customers can buy apple pies and lemon meringue pies. Castel sold 6 apple pies and 4 lemon meringue pies for a total of $80. Gabriella sold 6 apple pies and 5 lemon meringue pies for a total of $94.

Could someone please walk me through the process of writing two systems of equations that represents the number of each type of pie????

Let x = cost of each apple pie; y = cost of each lemon meringue pie.

Explanation:

Since Castel sold 6 apple pies and 4 lemon meringue pies for $80, we have 6x + 4y = $80.

Also Gabriella sold 6 apple pies and 5 lemon meringue pies for $94, we have 6x + 5y = $94.

6x + 5y = $94

- (6x + 4y = $80)

=> y = $14.

Therefore 6x + 5($14) = $94, 6x = $24, x = $4.

Hence each apple pie costs $4 and each lemon meringue pie costs $14.
