Answer:

1. X=4

2. X=-12

Explanation:

Problem #1:

  1. Use the distributive property on the left side of the equal sign (because of the parenthesis) 3/4(5x)+3/4(-4)=12
  2. Multiply them together 3.75x-3=12
  3. Since you're solving for X you want to get it by its self, to do that add 3 and divide by 3.75 on both sides.

3.75x-3+(3)= 12+(3)

3.75x = 15

3.75x/(3.75) = 15/(3.75)

x= 4

Problem #2:

  1. Again, you're solving for X so you want to get it by itself. First subtract both sides by 22 14-(22) = 22-2/3x -(22)
  2. Now you have 8= -2/3x, to get X by itself you want to divide by -2/3 (or multiply by the recipricol)

8 * (-3/2)= -2/3x

-12=X

Hope this helps!!

1) 1st you multiply through. Then you simplify 12/4 to 3. Finally, you divide both sides by 15/4. Note, when you divide by a number on both sides you flip the numbers and multiply on both sides. In this case, you multiply by 4/15.
2) 1st you subtract -22 on both sides. the. You divide by -2/3( remember dividing by -2/3 is the same as multiplying by -3/2.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.
