X = 2

Explanation:

12x - 4 = 4(2x + 1) (multiple 2x and 1 by 4)

=> 12x - 4 = 8x + 4

=> 12x - 8x = 4+4 (and the alike terms together)

=> 4x = 8

=> x = 8/4 ( divide 8 and 4 by 4)

=> x = 2/1

=> x = 2
