For this case we must solve the following inequality:

-8 <2x-4 <4

Adding 4 in the parts of the inequality we have:

-8 + 4 <2x-4 + 4 <4 + 4\\-4 <2x <8

Dividing between 2 each part of the inequality:

\frac {-4} {2} <\frac {2x} {2} <\frac {8} {2}

-2 <x <4

Answer:

-2 <x <4
